Interserve has created new, state-of-the-art, en-suite single living and mess accommodation at the Fleet Accommodation Centre at Devonport HM Naval Base – the largest naval base in Western Europe.

The new facilities – a combination of new build and the refurbishment of existing accommodation, have transformed HMS Drake into a modern, vibrant naval community, providing cabin accommodation for just over 1,650 service men and women across all ranks, whilst their ship is in dock.

Interserve also provides a range of support services for 24 years, covering estate management and maintenance, catering and hotel services, cleaning and laundry, 24-hour helpdesk and a crèche.

With many of the building projects now complete, Interserve's on-site management team is working with the Authority to look at the long term efficiency of the estate, and how to make the very best use of space and facilities. One particular achievement was the creation of a sports bar from a disused store room, providing a modern, trendy meeting place for the under 18s - a project that was completed in just 12 weeks.

Achievements

  • Project Armada was PFI category and overall winner at the PFM Partnership Awards 2008
  • Identified low cost, high impact 'good housekeeping' initiatives and awareness schemes and introduced new solutions to waste management, whilst reduced noise, nuisance and dust. Find out more
