Regeneration
Interserve's community-based service is providing the infrastructure for local communities to regenerate their economic performance and raise employment and living standards. We are active in the regeneration of both urban and rural communities through our work in hospitals, schools, office developments, shopping centres, business parks, town planning, housing and stadia.
We have a dedicated Regeneration microsite Regeneration microsite where all our skills in the sector are brought together in one place.

A key strength is our ability to manage and engage large teams of people to deliver a consistent, high quality facilities management service. We have transferred over 17,000 people under TUPE and possess unrivalled experience of change management.
Design and build
We offer a complete design service, from site-finding and budget-costing advice to brief-taking and design development.
By understanding a building’s purpose we create a design specific to the operational and maintenance issues that the facility will face throughout its working life. This includes:
- Analysis of client requirements
- Proposing alternative and innovative options
- Resolving buildability concerns
- Incorporating a whole-life costing strategy
In regeneration projects we recognise that it is particularly important to ensure that the design not only satisfies budget, programme, operational and sustainability objectives, but also delivers the client’s vision and aspirations for meaningful renewal.
Operate
Once a building or other facility is ready to open, the role we play in its operation can assist further with achieving regeneration aims. When a facility is run efficiently, offering attractive amenities in a pleasant, well-maintained environment, it draws in people from the local community and becomes a centre for social interaction.
Interserve provides operational services in a variety of environments where regeneration is an important objective, and can also offer advice on ways of improving operational efficiency.
In the Hadley Learning Community, for example, which is situated in a previously run-down part of Telford, our staff run the buildings not only during school hours but also into the evening, allowing members of the public to benefit from a range of sports facilities along with health, family and parenting advice and other extended services including a library, learning resource centre, nursery, crèche and a 150-seat theatre.
Another instance is the retail sector, where several of the centres which we operate on behalf of clients such as CB Richard Ellis and PRUPIM are in regeneration areas. Among these are Silverburn, the largest shopping centre in Glasgow, where we provide a range of services including customer care and security, and Manchester Arndale where we are responsible for a full suite of services at a location which has recently been recognised by the International Council of Shopping Centres with its prestigious ReStore award for public/private retail-led urban regeneration partnerships.
Maintain and replace
Our long-term contracts enable a strategic maintenance approach that targets maintenance and investment through the life cycle. We provide the continuing maintenance/upgrading of buildings and the critical assets that support our clients’ service delivery. Interserve provides fully integrated facilities services including:
